Getting Started with your HP server - Step Four: Install HP utilities

HPE offers various utilities to make managing your Proliant much easier. The utilities below are all the HPE free software that we recommend.

HP SIM for Windows - This is a free management suite that combines status logging and management. Obtaining the software requires creating a login with HP but it is a free download. - Linux version

Other utilities



There are many other apps provided by HP (Note: some of these may be included with HP SIM). If you don't want to create a login with HP you can download these individually.

HPE Systems Management Home Page - This provides a consolidated view of your server status and configuration. - Linux x64 version

HPE Insight Management WBEM Providers for Windows - Required for Homepage communication with the hardware

HPE SNMP Agents for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 - Required for Homepage communication with the hardware

HPE Smart Storage Administrator (HPE SSA) - Provides online configuration of storage arrays. Make changes to your RAID without shutting down. - Linux version

HPE Smart Storage Administrator Diagnostic Utility - Online RAID diagnostic - Linux command line Version

Integrated Management Log Viewer - View all your logs in one easy place.

HP Insight Diagnostics Online Edition - Run Diagnostics without taking the server down - Linux version

HP ProLiant Smart Array SAS/SATA Event Notification Service for Windows - Sends array errors to the Windows Event Log

WMI Mapper for HP Systems Insight Manager - Allows HP management homepage to communicate with Windows WMI.

HP Network Configuration Utility - Allows for advanced features such as NIC Teaming. Note: Windows 2012 supports NIC teaming out of the box


If you find these utilities do not work with your particular Server or Operating system, please visit the HP support Site and pick your server and OS to download utilities specific to your product. Most of these are categorized under Software -> Systems Management.
